The ultimate guide to choosing A Security Camera System
While choosing a security camera system for your home or office, you have to keep many things in mind, like where it has to be installed, how many cameras do you require, for what purpose do you require them, etc. Thus, it is not an easy job, and you have to be absolutely clear about you requirements.
Let us find out what are the essential things to be considered while buying a surveillance system.
1. Need one or more than one camera
Whether you choose a single or many cameras surveillance solution depends on the size and layout of your property. If you need to know what’s happening in the vast outside area or any rooms, you’ll need more than one camera for better surveillance of the area. As a general rule, many homes or small businesses can be easily monitored with four cameras. Alarm Reviews states that many people connect their home or business camera system with the best home security system. One has to make sure each camera can focus on the key areas of space you’re monitoring, including doorways and other opening or entrances like windows, roofs, crawl spaces, anywhere an intruder can gain access from. You can always increase the number of cameras as per your requirements.
2. Will you be using the cameras indoors or outdoors?
Some surveillance cameras are specially designed for either indoor or outdoor use.
- Indoor cameras tend to be smaller, lighter and generally less visible than the outdoor cameras.
- The outdoor cameras are often costlier than the indoor models because they’re built to withstand not only the weather elements but also attacks from vandals, thieves, and intruders. Many of today’s higher quality security cameras are designed for both indoor and outdoor use.
- For an extra area of hidden protection, outdoor surveillance cameras can be disguised as common objects. You can choose a hidden camera and built-in digital video recorder disguised as anything you feel like that is not very obtrusive.
3. Light conditions:
While many business and office compounds are well lit at night but homes are not generally seen well lit. The dimly lit the area, the more likely thieves are going to see it as their target. If you want to protect an area with poor lighting, you’ll have to get an infrared camera system. Cameras with IR features, which is also known as the night vision cameras can shoot and record in complete darkness, and they’re important tools in many surveillance areas. Some cameras may not be infrared ones, but they can also function in dim lights. To help you to compare the features, some manufacturers provide a minimum illumination rating known as LUX. The lower is the LUX rating; the better is the camera’s capacity to capture images in low light.
4. How far or wide angle the security cameras can cover?
The answer to this question depends on your lens size of the camera. So before buying you should see the lens size and focal length the lens can cover. How wide of a viewing angle you need is depending on the image sensor of the camera? Larger image sensors allow more light into the picture and give you a better and wider view of the picture. For example, a sharper lens will help to see almost all around. If you put it in the corner of a room, you’ll see almost the entire room. But other lenses will only give you a viewing angle of roughly a partial side.
5. What degree of recording resolution do I need?
This is a known question when it comes to surveillance systems. Around 550 lines are enough for an indoor system to monitoring a single area under proximity. If you intend to use the surveillance system for a longer distance, I recommend you to select the resolution of the camera to 700+ that can offer satisfactory image quality.
6. Do I need weatherproof cameras?
If you want to use the surveillance system in the outdoors, it’s better to go with cameras that can withstand any weather. It provides a sense of peace to know your cameras are not affected by extreme rain, wind or snow. You can also place them under an awning or area that is covered and dry.
7. How easily can I set up remote viewing on my security cameras?
- Every system has its own way of allowing the clients to view the videos the system provides. One must consult your instruction manual for details.
- Most DVRs are remote viewing capable out of the box. You can watch live events and recorded video from any computer. You can also use apps provided by some systems for easy viewing on your smart phones or PC. All you need is a high-speed Internet connection to your DVR.
8. Is it important to consider the company or brand of the security system?
Yes, it is important to consider the company or brand before purchasing a security system.
One should see:
- Do they only deal in security products or is it just a side business for them?
- How long have they been in the business?
- Finally, is the technical support in-house or by a foreign call center?
While buying any security systems, we should keep all these questions in mind get answered, since it is our safety we are talking about. We should not go for cheap products as they may not function the way how are expected to work it. Thus, we have to be really careful while buying our security systems and make sure we buy the best one.
9. Some important tips for a quick reference:
Since security is an important part of our life, we must take it seriously and choose from among the best. So in short while buying these units keep these things in mind:
1) Don’t break your budget
2) Pick indoor or outdoor
3) Know your target view point

Protecting our homes and offices is always a paramount factor, and it must not be taken lightly. So, one must choose wisely and select the best surveillance system for their property.
10. You may want to combine security cameras with a home security system
Many people like having everything interconnected in their home. Having a separate cameras and security system can cause quite the headache. Most home security companies now offer cameras in their packaging along with a monitoring rate typically under $50.
Best technology always for your help:
Keeping the security in mind, we must always select the best home security camera system that can provide the best results and without considering much to the price factor. Spending money for a security system is not the final factor, because the system must be able to meet your objectives. Albeit, it is a fact that the more you spend, the better will be the quality and of course with a bundle of features you get.
Of the higher-end features, I’d like to put night vision at the top. Motion detection is also highly desirable, but make sure you can adjust the sensitivity and narrow the range of the scan. You don’t want legitimate moving objects such as windblown plants generating false positives. If you can properly tune the system, you may also want it to send a text message to your phone when motion is detected.
A good security camera system is always designed to meet your expectation and work as a real-time deterrent. It must be able to record any eventualities and can alert you at the right time. Before you decide on a particular surveillance systems, read and try to understand the features of various security camera systems and read various customer reviews. Considering the various options available on security camera system, whether you want to use the security camera indoor or outdoor, whether you need a wireless or wired system, this guide will help users select the best security camera system to meet your requirements.

Swann Ultra 4K Security Camera System IP POE Review
hey guys guess what it's time for me to upgrade my system yet again but with good reason because you're probably like why is he doing this he just got four cases but a couple of months ago with good reason Swann has just released the new system oh and for those of you budget shopping the price has come way down you know before you're looking at fourteen fifteen hundred dollars now you're at around eight hundred bucks depending on when you're watching this video and where you live or a 4k system but for all the links on where to buy it it's in the description below so why you're asking why am i afraid of my system here look I'll show you the main thing is the true detect system now you're probably asking what is true detect to detect uses the same technology inside your sensors if you have a home alarm you know your motion sensors inside your home the same technology so if you have like a mouse or a rat in your house or a cat or something it won't set off the motion sensor that's because it's not detecting a big enough heat signature such as a human okay but this is using that technology so if something small or or like a leaf or a bug or a spider goes by with the analytics of a 4k system you'll still it'll still record because it's detecting motion and you can still get emails that way but as far as the notification on your phone it won't notify you so now what you detect it will notify you wouldn't notice is a big enough heat signature a car person something that is more important for you to know right away and I think that's why Swan never really did the notification thing before was um you know on a windy day tree going back and forth blowing or feeding a shadow or leaves getting blown your phone would be even notified Knight and your battery would probably die but this way you don't have to worry so now you know when you get a notification bang it's something important it's something big it's a car it's a human it's something you're concerned about and what it'll right away not to mention in this system seems like someone really listened because this system has built-in microphones on each camera so no more just having that one microphone for the whole system and having to run an additional RCA cable and find an additional microphone that did not come with it all of that is gone this has built-in microphones with it and you're still using the same cat5 cable that comes with it because this camera is POV which is power over ethernet so all you need is one cable for each camera and that makes your installation time a lot easier one cable per camera and it comes with all the cables so now you can also hear so even if something's too dark or too far away for you to get a good description maybe they'll be able to recognize the person or what's going on an accent in their voice via the microphone that will be recorded as well so I'm gonna stop talking because I'm really excited I'm just gonna unbox it a little just so you can see because this year is so feature-rich there's so much to go over okay also I got a couple of other Swan goodies as you could see here I also have this right here this is a dome camera and it has 4k it's everything the same as these cameras in the new system built-in microphone true detect everything and so I'm actually gonna install this on the side of my house when people come on the side gate I'll be able to see them there as well that's why I picked this one up but I'll show you it and I have this one here which is a five megapixel camera and it's 2.4 times clearer than 1080p with it's 5 megapixels so I bought this one to put in a different area of my house which we're detail isn't necessarily as required as much as where I'm gonna put these I want as much detail as possible with this system and these cameras but this camera I need to see it's clear provides great detail but not as sharp or as good as 4k obviously so yeah and this still has the to detect system and you can hear what's going on with a built-in microphone I love love love the fact that all these cameras that are coming out from Swan and their new system it's able to just have that one microphone built in and you can hear audio on each camera alright so I'm gonna open this up really quick because I know you guys love unboxings so yeah this was just gonna be a little more quicker than normal and you guys read this stuff which you may need what it made Intel before you get started also letting you know the content so please read that pay attention and let's look at one of these new cool cameras and in case you're wondering these are the NHD 885 cameras brand-new and look at what we have here alright so it looks like they're back to the allen key here to loosen this to make adjustments wires fed through and that's where you'll plug in your cat 5 alright inside there is your color image sensor here's your true detect right there and I don't know if you can see that little dot right there but that is your built-in microphone on each camera okay now this is my camera's that are on my existing house the NHD 8 8 0 and as you can see the difference between the two a little bigger a little more black on there and here's the front and you see that big true detect sensor right there built-in microphone and yeah so you can set the wires through here so it mountains flesh and this would just mount on your wall like so so as you could see the bullet camera's smaller than the dome okay so here is the new end VR on top here where my thumb is covering that is your QR code that's really used with the new home safe at halftime Swan but I'll show you that we'll go through it love the glossy black here it's actually pretty cool now I can tell you this is considerably smaller than the current one and no your cameras from the other 4k system will not work with this one this system will only work with the cameras that I showed showed you here the dome camera the five megapixel camera and the ones that came with it so unfortunately they will not work right here you'll have two lights one indicating power and one that your hard drive is working to USB upfront which I love and in the back here you have your power the power will go in there audio out to anything me I'll have that ego go out to my speaker system here in the office VGA or HDMI depending on your flavor whatever way you're hooking it up to your monitor or television USB for your mouse there's your Ethernet in and here are your eight channels and that is it you guys okay so now I have everything out ready to go I'm going to do a little bit of a light install I've showed you that on other video so if you want to know how to install them and take care and cameras down and all that stuff don't worry you could see that on my other Swann videos for some of you that may put some of these cameras on the interior of your home having that headed microphone as well to let's say you have an elderly person and someone's taking care of them living with you or you have a babysitter not only can you see what's going on but you can hear what's going on in your home too whatever they may or may not be saying to your loved one so with this new to detect and PIR system it virtually gets rid of false alarms because it's only sending you something when you get a big of heat signature and then that will be known if you'll get a notification to your phone I don't know if you guys can hear that or not but this thing is quiet like whisper quiet compared to the last four cases to my head it is extreme right next to it and you can barely barely hear it [Music] okay you guys that is it just some quick connections plugging in the cat five to the camera then plugging in the cat five on the system itself on the NVR and your rocking and rolling now what you see here I have a total of five cameras but I put this in a grid four shot here that way you could also see the dome camera now all four these are in rich glorious 4k but if you stay tuned once I'm done talking and going through the software and stuff here and the app on the phone you will go ahead and see everything in true 4k I'm only shooting in 720p but stay tuned once I'm done here at the end towards the end of the video you will see everything in glorious 4k now I wanted to point out the screen on the lower right that is the dome camera the recipes here are full of cameras but you can't tell they all look great all in glorious or okay like I said stay tuned at the end of the video when I'm done here and you'll see everything in true real 4k so don't worry about it something that's new to you can zoom in from the grid shot so you take your mouse there is a little roller on the mouse you can go ahead and put it on whatever camera you want so I'm going to choose one on the upper left and just roll in and roll out and you can see them and once you roll in we could still move it by holding the mouse down to move up down as you're holding down to min it's a mouse now I'll double click here and you see how crispy and luxurious and clear it is now maybe you can't tell cuz it's only in 720p but trust me trust me everybody it looks great stay tuned for you know the video you'll see the glorious 4k as I'm zooming in here now to bring up the menu you want to go ahead and right click on your mouse and that will bring this up down here you can manually lock the screen quad that's if you want to switch it to for nine more layout strain switch preview policy start sequence that means it'll randomly switch every channel mute and playback now I said one of the main things that I really enjoyed was now having audio with this system so I'll turn up the volume so we can hear these kids in the street maybe it's something really dark or someone far away and you can't quite get a clear enough picture but you can hear them with their voice maybe they have an accent or maybe some voice you recognize to help you identify the would be criminal so that's where the audio just comes in handy and the microphone is already built-in you don't have to run any new cables nothing of the sort okay so you right-click bring up that home logo and then also bring up that menu I was just racking so I'm gonna right-click get the little home and we're gonna jizz briefly briefly skim through some of the software here okay so I hit the menu button first thing it does is bring up your IP channel on the left that's the IP channel to all of your cameras Emiquon here is live and that is to change the name record time the format all your stuff right here time format 24 hour 12 hours 60 Hertz output that's live out you on it live and this is sequential mode dwell time that means you hit that and every five seconds it'll switch to the next camera and you can change that from five seconds at two seconds whatever you prefer a VGA resolution that is going out to your output so my TV here that we're looking at this on hanging on the wall it is a 4k television image control that's if you want to go ahead and adjust you know angle rotation backlight shutter debug how I want the volume on each camera privacy don't you guys already know what that is that's when you let's say it's being angled back towards your house and you don't want a certain area to be seen maybe a window or something this ease into your house you can draw a privacy zone and the next one down is record these are just your basic settings here if you want an on motion if you want it on normal you can copy to all select each channel here main stream that's how it's recorded in how you see it and what bitrate if you want audio with it as well and here's one that's important for you this is mobile stream you can set the resolution that it will stream out to you the highest is 640 by 480 which looks pretty good on fun or at search if it start greyed out that's the previous month if the numbers are red that means it's a weekend day and if it's in light gray that means during the week little red triangles are notches in the corner those are the days where you have recordings so here's your email settings enable auto here's the port reviews in Gmail here's your SMTP Gmail the password for that email address sender receiver that's the email address of the person you wanted going to and interval every one minute five minutes whatever it is in your text email email schedule I just have mine on motion every time this motion I won't know all right so now we hit alarm or a motion and this is the important stuff this is where you get notifications emails and things like that so channel 1 which is channel 1 is here for me enable motion you could have an emotion NPI are totally up to you full screen push so if you have the song passive infrared that's where it's the heat sensing or something that has a big big heat signature will trip your motion alarm and that's the setting you would want it on to get notified because if you just have an emotion let's say then anything a bird a cat squirrel trees blowing anything is going to send you an email or a notification you don't want that so you go ahead and take PIR and motion and then you can select you wanted to send you an email do you want it to go fullscreen now full screen what that means is let's say how I have the four camera grid shot here and then it detects a big heat signature or something it will now bring up that one screen on the TV so for example if someone walks by on this camera on the left it sends that heat signature it will now get rid of this grid shot and bring up that one camera to show me where the motion is once the motion is gone after it detects the heat signature in that and it'll go back to the grid shot so if you want that then you go ahead and select full screen here push that means it'll send you a push notification to your phone then you also have this to send it to the cloud if you want it backed up on the cloud and yeah area is set up and that's how big you want it to cover those are all those squares there and yeah there's an area you don't want you just go ahead and you know select where you don't want it and then whatever emotions are consumers detected there who will not send you so PIR motion motion or totally disabled all together only up to you so motion is everything PIR and motion is you know the important ones only the main signature heat signatures that main thing that's with this new system that makes it so great so that's what's great about it you have done push notifications for that and you'll only get notified when it's something significant and it uses the same technology that's in your interior motion sensors with your home alarm system very very intelligent very good and you would select that off and on for each camera here we go hit analytics all right analytics PID that stands for perimeter intrusion detection so if you want to enable that go ahead and enable setup so let's say I draw a line around my wife's car here okay so let's say I draw a line around my wife's car here I don't know if you could see this but it's creating a yellow line there so I make a square bang and you see that now creates a box around my wife's car if anyone goes in that for any reason I'll get notified so that's what that is you can have the rule setting from A to B B to a you see the A's and B's around there I don't know if you guys can see that or not but those are aids and B's so you can make it so you can go from B to a and it won't set anything out so if someone's exiting the car you're fine but if something's coming in in in from A to B A to B A to B then you can get alerted and that what perimeter intrusion detection is in the next one LCD you're asking what that is that's line crossing detection you guys know we've done this before set it up so let's say there's just a line that I'll put here and here and I set the rule from B to a so if anyone comes towards my house walking up the steps across the brass anywhere here people go ahead and alert me and that is my crossing detection that's great for a business or something or or on the side of your home and anyone passes that line you'll know about it okay so the next one is s Oh D stationary object detection now for instance let's say you know you got a piece of art or I'll draw a box I'll draw box here same thing now look there and let's say that square in the middle is a piece of art or a statue you know this electrical box thing right there now let's say this in the middle is an object that I care about it's a painting or a statue or something and I drew a box around here it knows it's supposed to be there but if it's removed from that space then hey guess what you get and that's what stationary object detection is okay next one is PD pedestrian detection enable boom now this distinguishes the movement from a person shaped object or anything else in your NVR will activate and send you an email go fullscreen whatever you want to do when that is enabled and you can set that up and there's a giant box around the whole window here so anytime a person is inside there you will know now the next one we have here is FD the stands for face detection please don't get it confused with facial recognition that's not what this is this is face detection so when it detects a face not a specific person or face but a face you'll get notified and the next one is CCU stands for cross counting now what this does is count the time someone has crossed the line going back forth back forth back forth so you can set that up and if some of them crosses the line more times than you're comfortable with guess what you'll get notified now you can select the DES pean or object something that goes back and forth like let's say it's a car like your kids only supposed to come home one time and pull in but if he's going back out and out you'll get notified insanely you can switch it to pedestrian whatever you choose now also here going to device then going to cloud this is where you would enable your Dropbox for those of you that have a Dropbox account and stuff like that you can go ahead and do that here and then have photos and stuff like that uploaded to your Dropbox okay the first thing you want to do is hop into the App Store and grab your home say view app buy salon okay so you open that up and hit the plus symbol right there to go ahead and add your NVR once you hit the plus symbol it should look like this and then device ID it'll bring up your camera so you can go ahead and scan the QR code and if you remember the QR code is on top of the NVR itself it's physically on top of the MBR like I showed you in the unboxing okay so now that we're in the app I'll go ahead and show you how to use it a little bit couple of features here to look closer on any camera just go ahead and double tap and it'll bring it up you can also zoom in and if you want audio to go along with that go ahead and hit the speaker icon there and make sure it's not on mute like my phone is and there's the audio and trust me you guys you can hear extremely well now let's say you see something on camera and you want to just take a quick picture double tap bring it up big here hit the camera logo then hit in the middle of the screen right there that camera icon every time you do that there's a quick flash and it saves it within the app let's say you see something you want to record it brings up that icon which looks like the little record camera so I'll bring this up here and I'll hit record you see the red icon at the bottom right there it is now recording stop now I'll show you where to find them you hit that in the upper left you go to record and there's the video and they're just played what I'm be recorded and same for your photos go to image and here are the images that I just snapped now you also have the option if you want you can hit down here at the bottom you get it play so it'll play the images you can hit the trashcan thing to throw them away or you hit this one right here and you can save it to your phone send it in a text message whatever you'd like to do now show you what it looks like when you get a notification from an alarm it'll look something like that so you get a notification you touch it and it'll take you to this screen okay you tap it and it'll take you to this screen showing you where all the alarms are then you hit that and it will just take you instantly to a live feed so it'll send you an email if you want that's how I have mine set to send me an email and notify me so in an email it'll show me a quick snapshot and then when it notifies me I hit it and it instantly takes me to the camera where motion was detected so I could see it live so you get the best of both worlds now the mobile stream is below 720p at 640 by 480 but if you want you can change that if you want a higher resolution you hit this button right here cuz we're on the mobile stream if you hit the mainstream then it's coming in pretty darn clear close to 4k I mean it is pretty pretty good okay guys so that's the app and that is the app you guys so that's it I hope you enjoyed this I absolutely love this system that PIR the passive infrared with it true detective heat sensing it's gonna get rid of so many annoying unwanted emails and I think that's why Swann never switched to notifications before because anything would set it off for years now so anyways I'm gonna stop talking please enjoy the wonderful 4k footage right here alright guys [Applause]
Question: What External IP PoE Surveillance Cameras Should I Use on My House?
so this question comes from mark P let's see I have to say I like watching your videos on IP cameras and surveillance and I'm still confused with all the brands are there any that you recommend for external home use I have my home network separated out using all Cisco hardware but haven't made the final decision on brand of IP p OE camera so this is an interesting question right here because this is one of the problems that comes up especially with a lot of these newer technologies that you go out to deploy is basically finding vendors that you like and that you trust so whenever you're going to find a vendor for whatever project it is that you're going to be doing you do have to look at the things that your client is telling you even before you ask them any questions so there are some interesting things here that you kind of have to keep in mind so the first thing is when this guy is asking about IP cameras for external use right and so this is a big thing in the IP camera world is creating a cameras or any networking devices that can go outside in harsh environments is a little bit more complicated than creating stuff that can go inside basically you know in an office or in a home environment so a lot of companies actually don't create a lot of equipment that can go outside they figure there's not a lot of there's not a lot of demand for it and so they simply don't do it you have to think about you know if you're going to be putting a surveillance system into an office building you may put 50 cameras inside the office building and four or five outside the office building so for a lot of these different vendors it's simply not valuable enough of a thing to actually create outdoor cameras the next thing he says is it is for his home so people you know generally when they're buying equipment they generally want to spend less money on their home then on something like an office environment but but he also says that he's using all cisco hardware this is an important thing again whenever you're communicating with a client and trying to feel them out for the types of products that you should be selling them about the things that they say that they are willing to buy the money that they are willing to spend are these whole food shoppers or Sam's Club shoppers I'm not I'm not saying anything about either of those types of people but it does get into your head the idea of what price point should be going for so this person is saying it's all Cisco hardware he has connecting these devices as long as he's not talking about the crappy Linksys equipment that has Cisco put on it then you should be using pretty good equipment so overall if I'm looking for a home environment that I want to put external stuff on and I'm willing to spend a little bit of money for what I would argue is you should take a look at this company called IQ envision so I have a number of these guys as cameras I actually have one of their external cameras used it for quite a while these guys create very very good products and I know back when I had their Sentinel series these are very good they get a little pricey obviously they get a little pricey because they are very high quality but I would argue probably the best bang for your buck is IQ and vision now if you don't want to do IQ and vision another company that I do like is a company call it axis so you can go to access comm and if you go here you can go to the products and they do have network cameras these outdoor cameras I honestly don't know how well they work and I'm not sure how expensive they are but this would be a different option for you so here we go so the best you're going to buy like really freaking good is also going to cost a couple bucks is IQ envision a little bit lower but I would argue is still good quality equipment is axis ax is calm and then finally if you just don't know what the hell to buy and you're like Eloi Eloi just because I said Cisco don't mean I've got money burning a hole in my pocket then what you can do is you can go over to good old super circuits so super circuits is kind of like the Sam's Club for for all kinds of surveillance equipment so I would say you can come here and actually look for for IP cameras and see what they have to sell you because with super circuits there going to be a lot less expensive than the other than the other places to buy cameras from and so you might be able to get a very good deal here and it's kind of one of those things like if you can get the price down low enough then just buy a couple and you know if one fails no big deal so like three megapixel 65-foot IR outdoor camera here is 199 dollars three hundred and nine dollars I mean there's still a little little pricey but you know they've got some options for you so those are your different options if you're looking for outdoor surveillance cameras IQ and vision axis or just go over to super circuits and and see see what there is I mean that is one of the big issues I will tell you guys whenever you're going if you're ever going to start installing surveillance cameras professionally you're going to go out there and you know you plan to plan to install them in a lot of different places is make sure you find a vendor you trust one of the biggest issues that I found when I was I was installing surveillance cameras it's a very hype beautifully high-profit business but a lot of manufacturers put out a lot of crap a lot of crap so there is a lot of stuff coming out of manufacturers that basically comes out of the factory as a paperweight and so that's one of the things you have to be careful about because there's a lot of like custom manufactured stuff where these big surveillance camera vendors what they do is they contract out to have cameras built under their brand name and so the issue is is some of the vendors that do that the cameras are very good and some of the vendors that do it the cameras are very bad and so you you've got to find the cameras that you trust so that's why you know I like things like access I like things like IQ and vision simply because these are well known brand names they may have issues every once in a while but they have a brand name that they actually care about and so though they'll generally give you a decent product so those are the ones I like so yeah IQ on vision access and at the end of the day if you can't find anything else super circuits and that's for any of you guys who want to start playing around with surveillance systems and you don't really care about the dependability super sarkis is is a great deal you can get really inexpensive DVRs and cameras there play around with it have a lot of fun and again if you're looking for price point versus the thing actually lasting for a year you can actually get a lot of stuff and learn and learn a lot from it too but
Installing PoE Security Cameras
on today's episode of gran works I installed several power over ethernet IP security cameras stay tuned well we got robbed a few weeks ago some thief came into our backyard and stole a couple of bikes right off our back patio while we were sleeping yeah that's profoundly disturbing and it didn't take long for me to order some security cameras after that consumer cameras are cheaper and more plug-and-play but they don't work for me their resolution is 1080p HD at best most can't handle the AZ heat and worst of all most also require a cloud subscription to do anything really useful no thank you so I went with a set of Lorex lnb 4421 Power over Ethernet IP bullet cameras they are commercial grade of a resolution of 4 megapixels which is twice the resolution of 1080p HD can handle temps up to 140 degrees and maybe most importantly are completely and utterly controlled by me on the downside they aren't all that easy to install certainly not as much as safe Wireless are low you'll see what I mean I need to know where to install these outside but I run into a little bit of a chicken in the egg white up front the issue is that you need to be connected to a user net court another akin to network these are IP cameras the only way to see what's on them is through the network the but since it's not Wireless this court needs to somehow be connected to my network now in the end I'm going to run it through the attic here but again it's kind of chickeny hey I need to know where to run the cord to to wherever to get the network to the camera but to know where to actually put the camera to run it to I need to see it already connected to the network if that makes sense what you the solution I came up with is they effectively turned this temporarily into a wireless camera and the way I do it is start with this this is an ASIS RT and 66u it is a standard wireless router but one advantage of this is that you can actually install open source for more on this and I have on here tomatoe why that matters is then I can actually turn this into a wireless client specifically this is an wireless Ethernet bridge mode therefore this becomes a wireless client it next to my network inside the house and then it turns anything that's plugged into it into essentially a wireless height so the next step then is to actually take me Power over Ethernet router this one gets plugged into my wireless adapter thus meaning anything plugged into here also becomes wireless and because its power for Ethernet that's what can actually power the camera so now if I have the camera plugged in power with ethernet and I have the switch or Ethernet switch plugged in to my wireless router and the wireless router is connected to the network inside the house that means this camera should all be wireless and accessible over the network via any normal thing now that the camera is connected to the network I need to know its IP and so it's off to the bay and router I find the right one using the MAC address which is on the camera itself the host name isn't reliable really unless you're only setting up one camera at a time with that IP I log into the cameras web interface the default username and password for the lorax camera is admin and admin that's not secure at all thankfully it does require you to change it after the first login next up is the video setting page make sure the sub stream is enabled with an encode mode of mjpeg for maximum compatibility then the final information comes from the network connection page make a note of what the RTSP port is it's a 5 5 4 by default then copy off the format of the RTSP URL note the sub type equals 1 in my example here that will be critical for testing in a little bit arm does my custom monitoring URL I fire a PLC on my iPhone and swipe over to the network streams I then type in the URL that I copied off in a previous step and Bob's your uncle I can now see a live feed from my camera directly fed into my phone [Music] now we're back to why I wanted to jump through all those hoops in the first place and so I can figure out where to permanently mount the camera I do this by having a live feed of what the camera sees on my phone and then mount that phone in a mic stand I can then move it from place to place until I find a location has the coverage that I want because I can see exactly what the camera sees it's important to use the sub channel for this because VLC doesn't handle the default mpeg-4 streams from the lorax but does handle em jpeg flawlessly and the lower quality doesn't matter at all for the stage of installation I permanently mount the cameras using some as appropriate screws the kit actually comes with some screws and drywall anchors but I'm going directly into lumber here so there's no need for those the livestream comes in handy again for fine-tuning the angles before tightening them down now this camera kit comes with a hundred foot long cat5e Ethernet cable all tightly wrapped in a coil this has an amazing tendency to want to tangle up on itself so I thought is worth the time to try and uncoil it properly to do this I put one end under a heavyweight and then let the coil spin freely on a pipe as I walk away the cable uncoiled itself in the opposite way that I was originally coiled and so it comes out straight this is extremely effective with romex electrical wire and even semi-rigid Ethernet cable but in the discovered not quite as effective with flexible Ethernet like this this method lessens the tangling after the fact but it doesn't it all eliminate it and you don't want to do this beforehand so yeah don't do it exactly like this instead keep it on the coil as long as possible and have a helper hold the pipe or dowel or rod or whatever you have in the coil while you're doing the actual run that way it gets uncoiled directly when it's being pulled into the attic and so it'll be almost tangle proof at that stage [Music] there are two distinct ends to the supplied ethernet cable and one side has a very handy combination strain relief and sealing mechanism you just screw it on and the connection is very tight and resists the elements it's pretty selective I'm pretty paranoid though so check the extra step of also wrapping the entire thing and electrical tape just make certain everything is contained and snug I use a 5/8 inch spade bit to drill a hole into my attic and then started feeding the plain end of the cable up into it the idea was for me to go into the attic and just start pulling the already unfilled cable through I hadn't yet learn to keep the coil intact until the last possible moment so this particular pole was unnecessarily difficult and here's where I'm mentally sucking myself to go up into the attic it's mid-october at this point until the temperature is quite a bit lower than it had been earlier but you know that's all relative this is what my audits looked like that day using my thermal camera each of those pretty colors is a different temperature ranging from 140 degrees 265 degrees that's 63 273 degrees for the Metro confined yeesh it's funny to watch a video of this after the fact because honestly it doesn't look very hot but now just imagine being in a sauna the entire time it's just that you're not naked you're not sitting still on a bench you're having to wear a respirator you're probably face deep into insulation yeah it's it's it's all of the heat of the SONA with none of the fun in all seriousness heatstroke is a very real danger up there so after almost passing out cabling the first camera I took a lot of preventive steps for all the rest that included shorter trips try not to move as much when later in the evening and also trying out some portable fans so yeah this first run was no fun at all my house had hip roofs so every camera is installed near eve where the roof get extremely narrow that meant that I had to get flat on my stomach and inch as close to the eave as possible my face is buried in insulation the entire time so visibility is terrible a respirator was a must he the restricted air flow combined at the hot humid air in it may be kind of difficult to breathe yeah no fun at all [Music] I did have a helper untangle the cable from the outside this proved to be critical because no matter what that cable had find some way of tangling itself if I try to do everything myself in future runs attached the end of the cable to a five foot length of somewhat rigid 12 gauge wire and then push the wire attached to the cable through the hole into the Attic this essentially pushed the end of the cable several feet into the Attic rather than pulling it near the eave like pushing this flexible cable on its own did that allowed me to get with him kneeling distance of the EU all the rest of the cameras which was infinitely better than having to go on my stomach back outside I made sure to staple the exposed cable and multiple places to keep it secure I think is around ninety degrees at this point but why did that feel good I try to keep my equipment closet future-proof so that means using conduit to bridge the gap between it in the Attic I also use two inch PVC as smaller diameters have proved to be a little too future limiting getting multiple Ethernet cables to the conduit is trivial as a pole coil so the first step is getting the pull cord installed I have a full video on doing just that link in the doobly-doo but here's a real time instance in short you attach something like a bag or a balloon to the end of a pull cord and just suck it through the conduit with a shopback simple that first pull part should be considered a starter cord of sorts the idea is to attach any cable you want pull through the conduit to the existing pull cord but to always include a new length of pull cord with the bundle in this case I have four ethernet cables for the four cameras I'm starting out with I'm using official pull cord material but honestly most Epis tryng will work to spine everything is bundled together and then I make sure to wrap everything together using electrical tape I try to narrow it down to a point as much as possible to make it easier to kind of slide through the conduit the more lines you have in a conduit tomorrow you'll need to use some kind of lubricant there's an insane amount of friction and heat caused by the cable jackets rubbing against each other over any notable distance I've had some previous cable runs that were completely impossible without using any kind of lubricant but with the lubricant there is pretty easy I really like in the foam based lubricants now since they're far less messy than the gels but still do a fantastic job I just spray some into the conduit opening and the idea is that the cable will lubricate itself as it goes through it all that done I'm ready for the actual pole I have a helper down below slowly pull on a starter pull cord while I'm up in the attic guiding the bundle through and making sure it doesn't tangle it's very straightforward [Music] after it's all the way through I stuffed a scrap piece of memory foam into the conduit to seal it off in an effective but temporary manner I can always remove it later when I pull through additional cables and that's it for the Attic finally I now have the taped up cable bundle down where I want it so it's a simple matter to strip off the electrical tape and then kind of put aside my starter pole card for any future new conduit runs I then plug in the four cables into my power over ethernet switch it's very satisfying to see each of the cameras come online one at a time after all that and that's it for the physical installation they are now available over the network so all future work is going to be at a software level stay tuned for a comparison between I spy blue iris and zone minder and as always thanks for watching

4K Home Security Camera Review - Lorex System
I have here a security system from LOREX. They sell several different packages. This one is model LNB8111B. This is exactly as you will get it, as it will be delivered to you. In this box is the recorder and in this box are the cameras. The instructions and mounting screws. Here is an incredibly long CAT5E cable. And here is a quick look at the camera. You can power these through the CAT5 or the power plug. Nice. These come in white or black. Obviously for the higher end cameras like the 4K's you will want a larger hard drive. Power Cord. HDMI CAT5 Mouse and here is a remote. That is handy. Especially if you are in a shop, you don't want to go to a computer, you want to be able to stand at a register and click through. Here is a look at the front and the back. All the cameras will plug in here. You have HDMI, USB and monitor ports. This is a 4K system. These cameras record in 4K. these instructions look pretty good. I don't think they will leave out any details. They look well done. The first camera we will put up is right in this corner here. Right about there. And the reason why is the sun is going to set on that side and I want the camera pointed away from the sun when it sets. This just needs one cable (cat5e) and that will give the camera power and it will also send the video feed to the recorder. Almost forgot to take off the plastic. With just one camera installed, let's hook up the recorder and see how it works. Remote, recorder, mouse, and monitor. The monitor you will have to find yourself. You can use a computer monitor or pick up an extra but these are so cheap now. Plug this into slot #1 and there is the on/off switch. In the instructions, it says it is going to take a sec. to get ready. Is there a menu? Oh... I didn't push anything. What is this? A beep. Don't know what that meant. Look at that. There is the porch. It's working. I think this will work out really well. I will go and hook up all the cameras now and do a lot more work. We will jump back once I played around with this but I'm excited, this is a nice clean really good picture. I have been using it for a while now and there are things that I really like and something I think they could improve on. The cameras I chose are POE or power over ethernet. Which means there is enough power running through the ethernet cable that you can power the camera. So you just have one cable that goes right to the camera. Also if you don't want to run cables you can use a wireless. If you a garage or shed at the back of your property and you want a camera back there, you can do it that way. Once you plug in a camera and you turn the system on, it starts recording immediately. You don't have to hook up any other things and you don't have to run any software. It works the first time you turn it on. I have 5 cameras hooked up right now. One is under the overhang of the porch. It gives me a view of who is at the door and I can see into the front yard. One camera over the garage looking down into the alleyway and it does take a beating from the sun and rain and snow. But it has not had one issue, it's been no problem with things on the lens or the sun hitting the lens because it has a ledge over the lens. One camera looks down over the kitchen and living room. I installed one in the garage, I like it there because I can see if the door is closed at night or when we are gone. I can see if the lights are left on & things like that. One camera is pointed at a 3D Printer I just bought. Some of those prints go for hours and so I can check and make sure it is printing correctly because if it is not it will make a big mess. I really love that you can check your house and what is going on from anywhere in the world. You can set it up so that is there is some motion detected on a camera, you get a text or email notification. Saying "this camera detected movement." Maybe you want to know if someone is right on the porch. Right at your front door. What they do for that is you can block out the parts that you don't want any motion detection for. You cover all that up and you have only the spot on the camera where you want motion detection. Like on your doormat. So when there is movement on the camera, It's not going to record it and it's not going to send you a notice, unless the person is in that direct area. So you can take a look at these cameras anywhere in the world as long as they are hooked up through your internet connection. The system will keep recording until the hard drive is full. Once it is full it starts recording over the older footage. I like that Lorex has been around for a while because once you get it set up you are going to want a company that has been around and will keep innovating and updating the software and keep making things better. I'm sure there are a lot of good new brands and new systems coming out but giving advice to any of my friends or family, I would tell them to pick a major brand and that way, chances are you will be a lot happier with it and they won't stop updating the software. To me, there are two parts, the hardware side, and the software side. The software side is really developed and really good but it is a bit confusing I think to the new user. there are so many settings and things that you can get into that you are probably not going to understand right away. There are terms like CBR and VBR, so you go in and see all these settings for the camera to record at different levels. I wish if they would just put definitions next to all that and clean up the software interface a bit, make it a little simpler, this would be a stronger unit. Once it is set up, you are not going back to all the cameras and changing all the bitrates. You don't really go back to the settings so much. You only do that when you are setting it up. The Flir Cloud APP does work well. I can see all the cameras there. You can control cameras from your phone, you can record, you can access the mic. It's just really nice. It's a good system. I recommend it. If you go to there website you will see a lot of different systems some for a few hundred dollars and up to several thousand. The price depends on how many cameras are included, what kind of cameras, high or low definition. Also, you can get color night vision if you want, you can have the PAN/TILT/ZOOM so you can actually move the camera around in one of those little bubble domes. That's pretty cool. The actual recording system will have a hard drive in it and depending on if it is for a commercial building you are looking for you will probably want to get a high capacity hard drive. The hard drive can be an external add-on or linked to a computer. I was done with this video and was finishing up the editing and a friend asked me "how much does this camera system cost a month?" That is something I never thought to talk about. There is NO MONTHLY CHARGE. Everything you saw me talk about, there are no extra fees for that. You just get all of that when you buy a system. There are extra things you can pay for if you want like Cloud Storage or what's called a Rapid Recap. They give you two of these for free a month. You can consolidate footage into a short little video where you can see tons of events. Here is one now. You can see the UPS guy, a billion kids (only half are mine) You can see 8 hours of footage all in just a couple minutes. Those are fun to watch. If you wanted more than the two Rapid Recaps a month you can pay for that. And that would be an extra charge, but everything you have seen me do and use has been at a zero dollar per month fee. There are no extra charges. Once you buy the system that is it. I thank LOREX for sending me this system to review, it has been working great. If you have any questions for me about it go ahead and leave them in the comments section and I will do my best to answer. If I am going to sum this up in a few sentences, I would say #1 it's reliable. I have had it for several months now, it's worked 100% of the time. When connecting through the phone, it connects 100% of the time. When the power goes down, and it has happened a few times, it comes right back on and I don't have to log-in or restart anything. No software problems... nothing. It has always worked. #2 I like all the options you see on their site, all the different cameras, and different systems. You can definitely find something for you if its for commercial or even a small residence. They will have something that will work. #3 I do like all the software and options, I know I complained about it, but it is nice to be able to get in there and tweak all the little settings and have it work just perfect. But I do wish it was a little more intuitive and a little simpler. I wish they would clean it up a little. That's my opinion. If you have anything to add, leave it in the comments. I will see you next video and till then, have an awesome day.
My Top 5 Security Cameras of 2019!
what's up YouTube Jason here with bite my bits and in today's video I'm going to be outlining some of the top 5 security cameras that I've reviewed on this channel in 2018 [Music] whether you're protecting yourself on public Wi-Fi bypassing regional filters or just simply wanting to download something without the worries of a government or a corporation not liking you for a VPN service as a must-have solution and depending on where you're located it could be hard to find a VPN fast enough for daily use that's why the 30-day 100% money-back guarantee of Nord VPN is so valuable because even though I can tell you I get great speeds and reliability as they say the proof is in the pudding by visiting Nord VPN dot-com slash bite or clicking the link in the video description below you can test these speeds out for yourself with a heavy discount and with 30 days to prove its worth it's a safe way to ensure you're getting what you paid for if you ask me I think security cameras are almost an addiction once you have the ability to have eyes on your property to keep an eye on what's going on outside or possibly even inside your home it's hard to ignore that and my addiction started with my garage I just I had this thing where I wanted to be able to make sure that my garage door was closed I've never left it open but it's always been an inherited fear that one day I would leave for work and I'd be zombied out driving to work and I want to close the garage door even though it's never happened I've always been scared so that's where the whole security camera thing for me started I wanted to be able to log in make sure the garage door was closed from anywhere in the world and not have that fear or at least if I have that fear I have the way to double check that it's you know closed but not all security cameras are built the same and through my adventure I have found that there are many ups and downs to different brands and a lot of these ups and downs cannot be experienced without actually utilizing them for sometimes an extended period of time for example real link cameras they worked really great during my review process but then when the weather got colder and they started acting weird and it's like I can't really get them the stay connected anymore so it's just one of those kind of things where you do need a long time to get some of those little small quirks that might not the beginning of an experience so I have about six different areas that I usually focus on what I'm looking at security cameras of course the first one is always going to be quality now the quality can mean a lot of different things whether it's resolution bitrate or just weird artifacting in the video itself and of course through my adventures I have definitely gained um a major appreciation for cameras that support o and VI F or at bare minimum they support an RTSP stream that way they can be used with blue iris and the last major one for me is Power over Ethernet well after I got myself a Power over Ethernet switch it's just it done it way too easy to be able to run an Ethernet cable have the camera powered on and connected to the network at the same time not to mention that but because my Power over Ethernet switch is in the same rack system as my UPS it is supported by the battery backup so it's nice that if the power does flicker go down it won't knock off all my cameras release the ones that are hooked at the power over ethernet because those are backed up by the UPS now a couple subcategories here that probably could be more important to some than others are cost because everybody's budget is in her own it's hard to say what's expensive to everybody out there isn't an eyesore which again it's kind of depending on the person where you're gonna place it whether or not its business residential you know rather not you really care what it looks like on the outside of your house and three the wide angle lens which has actually become more important to me as of late just because I definitely grown to appreciate having that wider area of view with one single camera versus just a more focused camera so with that said and without me rambling on any longer let's jump into my top five cameras number five and this is the only indoor specific camera because I feel like outdoor cameras are more versatile because you can put them both indoor and outdoor but for number five I have the amcrest 4 megapixel Wi-Fi PTZ or pan tilt zoom indoors security camera now this is number five because it cannot be put outdoors but it does have a ton of features it's easy to use it's very reliable and overall the quality of the camera is amazing it has a 120 degree wide angle lens it only cost about $100 on Amazon it's been reliable for blue iris both on Wi-Fi and Ethernet which means I don't have any dropouts or discs connections and the only thing that I can really find that I don't like about it is its digital zoom and what I mean is as a pan tilt zoom camera the pan and the tilt are physical and the zoom instead of being optical is only digital so it's just blowing up an image still a great camera overall in a good solution to monitor things inside of your home and have the ability to move around that room if you need to number four the ubiquity unify g3 now this is the only 1080p camera on my list because I've definitely grown to appreciate higher resolution cameras and I was a little hesitant to put it on the list because as a 1080p camera it also cost a hundred and sixty dollars also it doesn't technically support Homan vif like the EM crest cameras do but I was able to get it hooked up to blue iris utilizing an r/t SP stream but this is just one of those cameras that I've put it up and it has been super reliable and even though it is a 1080p resolution the quality itself overall has been fantastic and it also has sound built into it which makes it perfect for putting it on the porch so if someone rings my doorbell or something I can load up the camera and I can see what's going on and also hear what's going on there's only one thing that really bugs me with ubiquity cameras at least this version I think they might have changed this for future revisions but with this version they utilize their own version of p OE I don't know if it's a different voltage some other different type but my POV switch will not power on this g3 camera at all so instead of using Cisco switch I already have I have to use an ability p OE injector that is specified for this brand I don't know why they do that but at least I don't know why they did that but either way it's been a great camera overall and I'm definitely impressed and that brings me to number three the W GCC power over ethernet 4 megapixel dome camera now at that four megapixel resolution it gives you 20 frames per second it doesn't have audio but it does have audio input so if you want to buy a microphone you can hook it up to it and of course it is o n VI F compatible W GCC actually makes kind of a similar version of this camera but it's in a bullet form but in my testing the bullet version of this performs considerably worse than the dome version I don't know why at least when it comes to night time quality this night vision quality is pretty decent but there is just a slight amount of wee ghosting going on for anything that's moving in the camera but it's not nearly as bad as the bullet version of this but the thing that really sticks out is that this thing is cheap in fact on Amazon it's like $59.99 or 60 bucks 60 bucks I mean I've had this thing hooked up on the side of my house since I've had it it's been reliable doesn't drop out it's been cold it's been hot it's just been a fantastic camera and I'm definitely impressed and that's why it's a number three on my list but that brings me to number two which is an amp now the amp crest dome camera took number two spot because it is an 8 megapixel camera or a 4k camera it again does not have audio built into it but it does have audio input options it of course is owen VI f compatible so it easily works with blue iris it has 112 degree wide angle lens an installation is super simple because you can rotate the lens so many different ways you can hook it up almost any way you want to and point it anywhere you want to because of how customizable the lens is during installation now you do have to physically move that lens around it's not motorized or anything but the options are still there yes it's going to be at least twice the price as the WG CC dome but still I think with the quality the custom installation lens configuration you still have the audio inputs and it's been super reliable I think it's a fantastic camera and overall deserves the number-2 spot and then for the number one spot we have an AM crest 4k or 8 megapixel bullet power over ethernet camera this again is 112 degree wide angle lens completely opened up with owen vif just like its sibling the dome camera it has fantastic daytime and nighttime quality no it doesn't have audio built into it which I really do kind of wish it does but in the end it doesn't really matter but because it has 100 12 degree wide angle lens its able to capture quite a bit in front of my house because it's been super reliable it's not dropping out it hooks up the blue iris very easily has no issues configuring overall utilizing and relying on this camera for the main camera in my house keeping an eye on the driveway the street everything it is my number one camera for this entire list the only caveat that I can say is that because I utilize it in front of my house and I want to build to capture at least have the biggest chance of capturing a license plate I do lower the resolution just a little bit too 25 frames per second I pretty much run in at 3072 by 1728 versus the native 4k resolution that's built into it because at the native 4k I only get 15 frames per second and to me I found that it's much easier to have a better chance at capturing a license plate if I have more frames to work with but even with that being said it has been an amazing camera and it's one of the very few cameras that I'm actually considering buying probably at least two if not three more to pretty months just using impressed around all the major spots in my house and actually wanting to buy a camera means a lot to me because I get these cameras in for review and I usually get them for free so you know to actually want to go out and buy one when I could just wait for more review cameras to come in and see if those do good and see if I want to replace other cameras with the new ones I mean I can do that in the long game but I just I really do like these hippocras cameras and I am definitely considering replacing some of my outdoor cameras with these main models because of the resolution because of reliability and because of how easy they are to use so there you have it my top five cameras of 2018 yes I know am kress took three out of the five spots but hey what can I say if you're impressed you are impressed just in case you're wondering why I do not include real link cameras I have two reasons one I have had major connectivity issues where it would disconnect from blue iris I still have one that I use on my back porch I just don't have a replacement camera for it yet so it drops out all the time I have issues with pixelation etc and two they are not good with cold weather on numerous occasions the real link cameras have just dropped out whenever it gets like let's say five or ten degrees outside I mean they just go offline just do not function every other camera doesn't have a problem least the ones that I have but the real link cameras they do not like the cold and because I live in Kansas it gets cold and that's just not something that I can deal with so so guys of course if you want to check out any of the cameras listed in this video today utilize the links in the description down below I would definitely appreciate it these are of course affiliate links so if you do want to use any of those links it would help out my channel so if you do thank you thank you and thank you if you have any questions comments or concerns of course post them in the comments down below thank you for watching like and subscribe and Best Security Camera System, 8 Channel, with 4 Outdoor 4K IP 8MP Cameras, 200ft Color Night Vision
[Music] good morning everyone this is Adam from 911 today we've got the hottest set of security cameras that I've ever seen I'm super excited about it so Watson is going to kick it off and tell you a little bit about this security system Watson thanks Adam this Lorex camera system is definitely the best set of cameras have had the chance to review it pretty amazing the system includes two bullet security cameras from the nocturnal product line and to bubble style dome cameras with audio and the brains behind it is a 4k capable network video recorder or NVR and it's all done up in black heavy duty metal housings both styles of cameras offer 4k resolution long range color night vision extreme weather durability and much much more even ninjas would be foolish to try to break into my house now setup is surprisingly easy each of these cameras only requires a single Ethernet cable to connect them to the NVR don't even need a power cord power comes through the ethernet cable so it makes for an easy and clutter-free installation so ultimately a four camera system like this is perfect for a residential home or small business but the NVR can handle up to nine cameras so you've got plenty of options if you want to go bigger I here the features the standalone camera systems don't need the Internet to operate however an internet connection is necessary if you want to use a smart phone tablet or computer to access features such as remote monitoring which is pretty cool and probably worth doing all you have to do is download the FLIR cloud app and hook your NVR up to the Internet then you can see what's going on in your house anytime anywhere hey that's my bike the NVR connects directly to a TV or monitor so you can watch live video feeds or review footage I use this really old VGA square monitor just to test it out and it worked fine but I would definitely recommend taking advantage of the HDMI port and use it on a big 4k TV or something like that it looks really good a quick note on 4k it's actually four times the resolution of 1080p so that's a lot of pixels it gives you a maximum level of detail and clarity and the NVR has a twenty four seven hundred percent duty cycle harddrive pre-installed but you can do backups to USB if you'd like and the hard drives are designed to work in a security environment so it includes simultaneous recording and playback from various streams the interface is pretty intuitive it comes with a mouse and a remote control so you can click on Windows you'd like to enlarge or use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out pretty neat and this NVR is also onv if' compliant so it can communicate with other network cameras we'll leave some more technical specs in the description below but there you go folks this is an amazing camera system check out the links below fortify your homestead and pick up one of these today thanks for watching alright so this product comes with the 911 seal of approval it's one of our top products we absolutely love it so go ahead and check it out there's a link in the description below a little bit of the stats as well right below you leave a comment if you have any questions and check us out make sure to click that subscribe button I'm Adam and this is nine-one-one reviews [Music] [Applause] you

Home Security Camera System Surveillance Setup: How to Best DIY IP Installation Placement HD CCTV 16
To Learn How to Setup your own Home Security System you first have to establish your main goals. In my opinion the main goal should be to GET THE LICENSE PLATE number of any intruder with a time stamp, and have it upload to a cloud, without a monthly bill for monitoring. In my opinion facial recognition is only second to getting the license plate. When my home was robbed the female thief wore a hat to avoid facial recognition. So getting a license plate number is my main goal. Since there are 100's of factors into selecting a home security camera system I will only go over why I selected what I selected. Let's Start with Placement The Best place I found to get a license plate number of a car in my driveway or in the street was right around where my driveway porch light was. This only works with a strong security camera. Therefore I had to find a camera and a porch light that I fit to each other that looked discrete and not too ghetto. I will link to the Porch light and the camera I bought in the description below. Surveillance Camera Setup Selection The biggest factors in selecting an outdoor camera is that it is strong enough to pick up the license number. Once again I can't stress that enough. I chose a camera that is varifocal in other words it doesn't have a fixed size or zoom. This is because you'll have to adjust the lens size so it is close enough to pick up detailed license plate number yet zoomed out enough to pick up the entire landscape or enough landscape. Note: Zooming in on a computer is blurry and doesnt gain more detail. Alone, it will not pick up the license like they do in the movies. You need a manual Zoom on the IP Camera. The Second biggest factor is the Megapixels of the camera. This is also important but not as important as the lens size. The higher this number of megapixels the less you have to be zoomed in to read a license plate number and still get a lot of the landscape. Other important features I like are IP camera's, which mean they plug directly into your computers network. This isn't too complicated to do these days and it enables me store all the video on a cloud instead of a dvr, or a hard drive, or an NVR, which can easily be stolen by an intruder. If you cant run ethernet wires another important feature will be a wireless camera. But be aware that wireless cameras are very glitchy, and bog down your wifi, and are way more expensive. So if you can running ethernet cables is better than having a wireless camera. Lastly make sure it is an outdoor camera if you don't want it to die the first time it rains. That's why I chose the camera I have linked to in the icon in this video and in the description below. And It is the most affordable one of its kind as well. You will also need to purchase this cheap power adapter for this camera to work. Camera Installation. To connect the camera to the light I drilled holes in the porch light frame and connected the light and camera with zip ties. Then I ran the wires through the back of the light. Because I cut an insert in the top of the light for the camera wires. Then drilled a hole in the wall and ran the wires to my ethernet so I can control the camera through my computer network. Software Selection. I will link to my ideal software selection in the description below. This software is great for 6 reasons. First. It works with most IP Cameras and you can always add new cameras that suit your needs. Two, it records with motion detection and does it really well. Three, they make set up straitforward which is could be complicated. Four, It includes a times stamp that makes it useable in a court of law. Five, very importantly it stores "immediately" to cloud if you uncheck this box here. Six, it has a great phone app so you can view your cameras anywhere you get internet. It is a one time purchase for the Desktop and another for the Phone app. If you buy it from my link I listed below they will email the activation code and you can wait for the product in the mail or you can download the program right away as well. Storage: Cloud storage is the best way in my opinion because all footage cannot be physically stolen like I said before from external hard drives and computers. You can see here it takes about a minute for my software to pick up the footage and store it to my cloud with a check. So should a thief steal my computer or camera I still have the information stored on my cloud drive. If it didn't like most other systems the whole system would be worth nothing. Any free cloud drive app should work just fine. I like Amazon because it has unlimited storage with a cheap yearly fee. Its worth it since I back up all my devices to the cloud including camera footage. However Amazon does not upload immediately on its own. To do this you will have to download O-drive which is a free auto upload application for amazon cloud. Set the storage folders within the software to the new o drive folder and o-drive will remain as the free version. I will link to Amazon Cloud, and O-drive in the description below but I might change them in the future if better products come out. Logging in to your Router For some this all may be a little daunting. I promise it isn't. I had no idea what I was doing when I started. The hardest part for people that aren't techy will probably be logging in to your router. You can log in to your router by obtaining its default ip address, username, and password in the information that came with it or by google searching its defaults if you haven't changed them. Note: This is different than your wifi password. Now what you do is plug the IP address in to your browser. Next give the Username and password. From ther you just need to find the IP addresses of your connected devices. This is where your ip camera's will show up when they are connected. It might also be helpful to know where your ports are if you plan to view your cameras on a handheld devices as well. Making It All Come Together. Your house has a main IP address. Your router, each computer, each device, and each camera all have different IP addresses and passwords within and below that home IP address. Write each down and the rest of the process will be fairly straightforward. Also note that the router has different ports. Ports are where your IP addresses exchange information. Write your ports down as well. Sometimes you need to assign the ports called Port Forwarding. You can assign a port for the the software to be shared on your devices in your router's port forwarding section. Finally you take all the IP addresses, passwords, and ports and plug them in to the software and the phone app and everything becomes alive & you're connected and you are in control of your cameras. If this seems like a lot, remember: most people have useless security systems and cameras like I did. In my opinion you are going to have one that actually works and you won't pay their high monthly fee's. Learn from my mistakes. You might have a few challenges but all the information is out there to help you get through it. I have a link to a list of all products you will need for this projectt in the icons in this video & in the description. I'm also here if you need help so leave those comments in the section below. Best Indoor Security Cameras in 2018 - Which Is The Best Indoor Security Camera?
in this episode of 10 best ones we are going to check out the top 5 best indoor security cameras in 2018 I made this list based on my personal opinion and I tried to list them based on their price quality durability and more if you want to see the price and find out more information about these indoor security cameras you can check out the links down in the description in the comment section below ok so let's get started with the video at number 5 we have the canary view the canary view is an inexpensive 1080p indoor security camera that would be a really good option for you if you want to enhance the safety of your home without spending hundreds of dollars from a design perspective this model features a compact cylindrical construction made of black glossy plastics and a durable frame which will ensure that this device will be protected from accidental knocks and thumps in addition you won't have any difficulties in terms of installation and placement which I particularly like due to the fact that this model is Wi-Fi enabled and this by default means that you won't deal with cables while on the other side thanks to its compactness you can store it on a shelf or a table without any problem at the front there is the camera with the 147 degree lens which is followed by a built in in speaker and microphone so you will taste the benefits of having a two-way communication as well but now let's talk about the performance the canary view offers three modes including the home away in the night mode for instance the home mode will let you record or not record video as well as turn the livestream access on or off while the away mode will enable the camera to push you notifications if it detects activities the night mode as the name States is primarily used during the sleeping hours and this mode will let you assign the camera to notify you once it records an activity moreover the canary View uses an artificial technology and machine learning as well which means that this camera will filter the unnecessary motions and inform you only with the legit ones another great thing about this model as the fact that it works with Alexa so you can stream video to your echo show or spot anytime you want finally most of the users have claimed that the video quality is really defined and when and the presence of its 147 degree wide angle lens it means that canary view will never miss anything to conclude if you're looking for a budget-friendly indoor camera with a high end performance then this would be your ideal option moving on at number four we have the Amazon Cloud cam the Amazon Cloud cam has become a true sensation since its initial release mainly because of its affordable price and tremendously good capabilities that will make your home and extremely safe for living from a design perspective the cloud cam has a sleek mainly white finished body that consists of a cylindrical head that is supported by a small white base which will ensure that once you place this camera into your home the stability will never be questionable at the front top you will see an LED button that will show you the status weather cloud cam is working or not while slightly below there is the 1080 Full HD camera an omnidirectional mic and a speaker for your information this unit comes with a 10 foot USB cable as well a mounting plate and a wall mount Hardware of which you can take an advantage in order to place this device virtually anywhere you want moving on the setup process is actually very easy because all you have to do is to download the Amazon Cloud cam app then sync the cloud cam via bluetooth and once you set your Wi-Fi password this device will start recording now let's talk about the features the Amazon Cloud cam is powered by dual CPU system and has eight infrared LEDs which makes this camera good enough to record quality videos during the day in the night with up to 30 frames per second moreover this unit has also been heavily praised regarding its motion detection capabilities because during its operation you will be notified only by those alerts that really matter but that's not all the integrated mic and speaker are a great addition as well because you will always be in touch with your loved ones even if you're not at home so for now I'm really unable to find any remarks before we end I'd like to inform you that the cloud cam app is extremely useful because it has many interesting features for example you can create zones that have to be captured all the time or if you don't like that you can assign a specific zone to be monitored which is really cool overall the Amazon Cloud cam deserve your attention because it gives a great value for its actual cost next up at number three we have the nest cam indoor the nest security camera as an excellent Alexa enabled camera that is specifically designed for indoor use so let's get quickly into action and find out what's so special about this device from a design perspective this model boasts an attractive glossy black camera eye that is attached to a magnetic gray metal stand that will is sturdy enough to ensure a higher level of stability so when you see this unit as a whole I have to admit that it looks really handsome at the front top you can notice a LED light that will glow solid green when the camera is operating or blue when it is trying to connect to a network while at the back there is a 10 foot power cord that plugs into the microUSB port so you won't have any issues connecting this camera with your laptop or desktop PC the other components include a built-in speaker and microphone which will help you listen and speak to your family members anytime you want but now let's talk about the performance this unit records at 1080p resolution and when we add its wide-angle lens and the 8x zoom capabilities I think that you simply can't ask for more in addition the nest cam is armed with eight LED lights which dramatically enhanced the details of the recorded videos which by default means that you will never miss anything another interesting thing about this device has its scheduling feature of which you can take an advantage in order to set the time when should this camera start or stop working and of course there is the nest smart app which has even more options to be more precise the nest app will let you set specific action zones that have to be recorded and if we take this aside the app will give you an access to your video history as well to ensure that nothing would be ever missed another interesting thing about the app is that you will receive a short clip when the camera detects a sudden motion so I have to praise nest since they did a really good job here to conclude the nest security camera is worthy of considering so check it out and assure yourself of its quality moving on at number 2 we have the lighthouse smart security the lighthouse is a high-end indoor camera that may not be the most affordable option that you can find on the market but considering the fact that dozens of customers are using it for everyday use it surely means something speaking of the design as expected this model has a lighthouse construction that consists of a 3d sensor 1080p RGB video camera an alarm siren speaker and microphone placed in a compact body that can be placed anywhere in your house for your information this unit comes in two color editions from which you can choose from such as the white which we are currently reviewing in the black but regardless of your choice both of them are unique in their own way and share the same specs now let's talk about the features the lighthouse uses an advanced AI technology which makes this camera highly effective in detecting even the smallest movements but what interesting about it is that you will be informed only about those motions that may represent a problem which is awesome thanks to its 1080p livestream ability plus the automatic night vision this camera can stream equally good during the day and the night and when we add it's 112 degrees field it means that this unit can cover a great portion of your home I would suggest you download the lighthouses mobile app as well due to the fact that it has a straightforward interface and numerous options that will dramatically enhance the security of your home because you will be informed literally about everything but what got my attention the most regarding the lighthouse performance is its ability to recognize new faces so you won't get notifications if you've told your friend to bring you something from your home but only if there is a potential intruder in case of a theft this camera will output a loud sound which will cause panic so the thief won't have any other option except to start running which by default means that the chances that someone may steal something from your house are set to a minimum if not to zero overall I'd strongly recommend you consider the lighthouse especially if you're looking for a high-end camera that will never disappoint you with its performance and finally at number one we have the Arlo Pro to the Arlo pro 2 as a multi-purpose home security camera system that may be used for both indoor and outdoor purposes so it you've been looking for something similar let's find out what else can you expect from this camera system from a design perspective the arlo pro 2 is available in 8 versions but keep in mind that currently we are reviewing the camera system that is composed of 2 our low pro 2 but if you prefer more cameras do not hesitate to switch and choose your ideal model since each of them has the same quality so quantity is what makes them different when you open the box you will find out an all-white finished base that integrates a 100 plus decibel siren 2 USB ports an Ethernet port a power jack reset button and an on and off button while at the front bottom there are three LED icons that will show you the status in addition the cameras are compact weather resistant and are armed with a speaker and microphone for two-way audio communication as well as a 1080p sensor with night vision so you can place them inside or outside of your home but now let's talk about the performance the our low pro 2 does a really good job in detecting motions and numerous users have claimed that they were really satisfied with its performance well if we take into consideration its three-second look-back ability which basically means that this camera can capture a sudden activity 3 seconds before the event actually happens without a doubt I can say that this camera is simply great I would also like to mention that this has 850 nanometer LEDs which are bright enough to illuminate a space of up to 25 feet with the intention to maximize your safety regardless if you placed the cameras indoor or outdoor moreover you can download the Arlo app as well which has an intuitive user interface and many interesting features of which you can take an advantage with a simple tap on your smart phone for example you can customize alerts to specific zones receive alerts when unknown people are detected and much more to conclude if you want to invest in a high-end multi-purpose home security camera system then this is the one for you thanks for watching I hope you liked this video if this video was Best Budget Security Camera System
well today I'm going to show you a different security system that I showed you last time you get a lot of comments about you know how about the cheap ones well I don't know about the cheap ones the Samsung that I bought was several hundred dollars I bought it just because it was the Samsung and I thought the quality was there but I found one of these on Amazon for $65 so I said well what the heck I'll grab it so I did and I was actually quite surprised and it doesn't come with a hard drive that's why it's so much cheaper and I'll get a better close-up of this and all you have to do is you just have to install a SATA hard drive I've already removed the screws on here so I can show this off and and just plug it in it's that simple wall screws plug in the SATA hard drive format it and off you go so I'm real happy with it I've been playing with it for about oh about a week or so and it works pretty good comes with the mouse so just jump over to Amazon and type in security systems change the price low to high and just kind of wander down and you're gonna see them is one right here for 60 bucks it's only has two cameras you really want the four cameras and kind of scroll down with before here's one 465 my brain is not in here anymore I don't know that must have been just a one run 65 bucks for cameras you know again everything that you need other than the hard drive you're gonna have a hard drive you can buy a hard drive on here for next to nothing I mean probably 40 50 bucks but but if you've got one it just save you some money and then they kind of go up from here on but again they're real reasonable so I'm gonna go right back up to this one right here so if this was if I was gonna buy another one this would be what I'd be looking at right here I currently have it hooked up to a monitor here with BGA and I also haven't hooked up to a composite just to show you the difference so the composite is not as clear as the VGA and I've also hooked it up to HDMI and it looks even better than it has a capability of doing audio but none of that comes with it I haven't tried that but what's kind of neat is you can double click on any one of these pictures and get a full view of it so if you have the setup and you want to see what's going on all you could do is double click on it so and then you can go back this one here was a four channel but they had messed up at the factory and put an 8 channel in so I got a pretty good deal for $65 - the hard drive so if you've got an old computer kicking around with an old SATA hard drive just throw it in if format and you're all set and go boom here click on this another another full screen kind of showing behind the scenes so to speak of my studio this is all I've done with it right now I'm kind of curious about how well it'll last it's been running non-stop for a week I've been kind of putting them outside and trying them out and to play back the recording all you do is you go back to playback go in the menu and it may ask you for an admin account or something like that so and you can see what's going on right now it's playing everything back I have have I've copied something on to a thumb drive and put it onto a machine so you can save each file it doesn't save these files all as one you have to save one file at a time which is not a big deal so you just go up to the date that you have and then find the spot that you want and record it I'm sorry copied on to a flash drive if you need be I don't need to do that I was thinking about maybe using this in the studio somehow but the quality is not all that great but that's not the purpose this is for security only so I'm all done with that go ahead and just hit X and I'll go back to my live shot so so that's about all of us to it again people have asked me if I tried the cheap ones well I wouldn't bought one and I really liked it I think I'm going to take this down to another piece of our property and set it up comes with four cables above 60 feet long ball cameras and I'll go ahead and move this one so you can see it comes with four cameras the cameras are night-vision equipped it works pretty good you can see about 25 to 30 feet from yeah they're weatherproof so you know you can put them outside it comes with all the mounting hardware that you need so and that's about all there is to it so I hope you hope you enjoyed it and again thanks an awful lot for the comments and thanks for putting me on to this so 65 bucks I've seen them I see him as low as sixty-two dollars but they were sold out and all you need is a hard drive so just gotta find a little junk computer get the hard drive out of it and off you go okay thanks an awful lot for watching
